How Router Work?

A router directs internet traffic by receiving data packets, examining their destination IP addresses, and consulting its internal routing table to find the most efficient path. It then forwards the packets to the next network or device on the journey to the final destination. Routers act as gateways between networks, ensuring data gets where it needs to go by connecting different IP networks and using routing protocols to maintain dynamic routing tables.  

Receives Data Packets: Devices send data, which is broken into small packets, to the router. 

Examines Packet Header: The router reads the packet's header to find its destination IP address. 

Consults Routing Table: The router searches its internal routing table for the most efficient path (or "next hop") to that destination. 

Forwards the Packet: The router then sends the packet to the appropriate network interface to continue its journey toward the destination IP address. 

Repeats the Process: Data packets often travel through multiple routers across the internet, each making forwarding decisions until they reach their final destination.
